Sapphire Fund Launches Matching Grants Program
PHILADELPHIA — January 29, 2007 — Sapphire Fund, a nonprofit charitable organization supporting Philadelphia’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community (LGBT), and those living with HIV/AIDS, is proud to announce its Matching Grants Program.

This year, Sapphire Fund is excited to announce an Individual Giving and Corporate Donation Matching Grants Program. An anonymous donor has pledged to match every new dollar raised through Individual Giving up to $10,000 and match every new Corporate Donation dollar up to the same amount. "We are excited about the future of Sapphire Fund and are confident that the Matching Gift campaign will significantly increase our fundraising goal for 2006 – 2007," said Brad Richards, President of Sapphire Fund.

Sapphire Fund’s board of directors has created a strategic plan that expands the agency’s sources of income, which already include individual giving, corporate sponsorship, and event revenue. The agency has begun operating on a year-round fundraising model, a dynamic practice which increases the size of its grants and its expanding visibility in the community.

Sapphire Fund has distributed more then $145,000 to the LGBT community through its beneficiaries and its Matching Grants Program. The William Way Community Center, MANNA, The Attic Youth Center, and Safe Guards have all benefited from Sapphire Fund’s success. In addition, the Sapphire Fund strengthens ties with the community by supporting other worthy organizations such as the Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, St. Mary's Family Respite Center, The Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation, AIDS Law Project of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia Family Pride, and the Mazzonni Center.

This is a great time for new donors to help drive the Fund’s fundraising challenges and for existing donors to double the impact of previous year’s gifts on the Philadelphia LGBT community. More information on the Sapphire Fund and on making a donation can be found at the Fund’s website, www.sapphirefund.org.
