| Sapphire Fund Announces Events for Blue Ball Weekend 2007 |
PHILADELPHIA — January 9, 2007 — Blue Ball Weekend explodes on to the Philadelphia GLBT party
scene May 4th through May 6th, 2007 with new events, world-renowned DJs, celebrity hosts, and
exciting live entertainment. Blue Ball Weekend is the annual dance fundraiser produced by Sapphire
Fund during Equality Forum weekend and benefits the Philadelphia lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgendered community. Equality Forum will include 60 programs, parties and special events in
collaboration with approximately 65 regional, state, national and international organizations with the
support of over 50,000 attendees each year.
Building on the sell-out success of the 2006 women’s main event, Emerge 2007 welcomes celebrity
hostesses, a bigger venue, and special live performances to create an unparalleled social experience.
Emerge signs on Kim Stolz to host the main event on May 4th. Stolz, an mtvU VJ, Elite Model, and
former America’s Next Top Model contestant, has been an active supporter of GLBT causes including
the “Out 100” Awards, which honor annual significant contributions to gay life. Also in attendance
will be Brazilian Milenna Saraiva, co-star of Bravo’s hit reality show “Work Out.” Saraiva who is also
appearing in the upcoming show “America’s Top Trainers,” is a talented artist and a top Los Angeles
personal trainer. Live performances include the sexiest, most daring darlings of burlesque, the Hellcat
Girls. Spinning at Emerge’s main event will be DJs Melissa and Erica the Baraness. Wrapping up the
weekend’s festivities will be DJs Jivey and JD at Bleu Martini on Sunday, May 6th. For more information,
please visit www.emergephilly.com.
Blue Ball’s main event returns to its feel-good roots with this year’s mission entitled “Basic Training”
on Saturday, May 5th. Several signature events return to the weekend’s roster, including ShamBlue at
Shampoo Night Club on Friday, May 4th, and Cobalt, the Saturday night after-hours party at Pure
Night Club immediately following the main event. Leading the charge at Blue Ball will be legendary
dance aficionado DJ Roland Belmares, with hot local talent DJ Zathan spinning in the upstairs lounge.
DJ Billy Carroll returns to the helm for Cobalt, and DJ Carl Michaels closes out the weekend on
Sunday, May 6th, at Fluid Night Club. For more information, please visit www.blueballphilly.com.
Both Emerge and Blue Ball will call the Trocadero Theatre home for the weekend’s main dance events.
"Sapphire Fund is thrilled to have one of Philadelphia’s most recognized venues open its doors to us.
The Trocadero offers the perfect backdrop for the nights’ festivities." said Brad Richards, President of
Sapphire Fund. The Trocadero is a restored 1940s theatre located in the city’s downtown area.
All proceeds from Blue Ball Weekend 2007 will benefit the Linda Creed Breast Cancer Foundation,
William Way Community Center, AIDS Law Project of PA, and Philadelphia Family Pride.
