Sapphire Fund Presents Check to 2006 Beneficiaries
PHILADELPHIA — September 24, 2006 — Sapphire Fund, a non-profit charitable organization supporting Philadelphia’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community, and those with HIV/AIDS, presented $15,000 to its beneficiaries in a presentation ceremony that took place on September 24, 2006 at the William Way Community Center. Sapphire Fund proudly awarded $5,000.00 each to the following organizations: the William Way Community Center, the Mazzoni Center and the Attic Youth Center.

"We are very excited with our success this year," said Brad Richards, President of Sapphire Fund. "We would like to thank all volunteers, board of directors, and community supporters who have contributed to the success of our fund raising efforts this year, especially with the well-attended Blue Ball 2006."

Sapphire Fund’s board of directors has created a strategic plan that expands the agency’s sources of income, which already include individual giving, corporate sponsorship, and event revenue. The agency has begun operating on a year-round fundraising model, a dynamic practice which increases the size of its grants and its expands visibility in the community.

Sapphire Fund has distributed more than $145,000 to the LGBT community through its beneficiaries such as: The William Way Community Center, MANNA, The Attic Youth Center, and the Center for Gay and Lesbian Civil Rights and the Mazzoni Center. In addition, the Sapphire Fund strengthens ties with the community by supporting other worthy organizations throughout the year.
